Nigerians blow hot as they tackle NCC on the new order to block SIMS not registered with National ID

Nigerians have started reacting seriously after NCC gave an order to Telecommunication operators (MTN, Airtel, Glo and Etisalat) to block SIM cards not registered with National ID - NIN (National Identity Numbers).

The information was revealed by President Buhari's Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad on his Twitter page last night. It reads:

"The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given telecommunications operators (MTN, Airtel, 9 Mobile and Glo) in country two weeks to block all SIM cards that are not registered with National Identity Numbers (NIN), the Commission has said in a statement."

Taking to their various Twitter pages, Nigerians began to tackle NCC heavily for its new order to telecommunication operators to block SIMS not registered with National ID.

What is the need for this again? I thought individual biometric data was captured for SIM registration and ditto for the NIM. Why can't the FG just synchronise data between these two, instead of troubling Nigerians? Or do we just like wahala for nothing?

Are you guys serious, National Identity Card (NIN) that takes forever to get the permanent; All we do in Nigeria is to register with almost document registerable & it's becoming annoying. This makes zero sense cos this is a tight period, people are preoccupied with activities.
