WOW: Igbo man to take command of US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer

An Igbo man based in the United States of America (USA), has been appointed as person who will be in charge of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer. He takes office in April.



Nigerians born in diaspora and Nigerians born in Nigeria are just making the country proud. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala made Nigeria proud after her appointment as the first woman and first African Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).



A Nigerian-American man, by name Kelechi Ndukwe, has been appointed as the first Nigerian-American to take command of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer - (USS DDG-97). He takes office on the 2nd of April 2021.

Narrating the story, CoalCityConnect wrote: "Nigerian-American, Kelechi Ndukwe To Take Command Of A US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer.

He is the first Nigerian-American to take command of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Halsey (DDG-97).
He takes over April 2, 2021.
