EXCLUSIVE: UNILAG shuts down hostels indefinitely over Covid-19 cases; imposes virtual lectures for all students from July 26

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that the Senate of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has ordered the total shut down of all hostels on campus, due to numerous Covid-19 reports from students. (Read More Here).

Recall that a few days ago, it was reported that a few students had pleaded to be anonymous as they revealed that they had contracted the fast spreading virus, Covid-19. 

Panic took over as the V.C, Professor Ogundipe, called for urgent meeting to be held on July 14, 2021, at exactly 2:00PM. After the just concluded meeting, decision from Senate was taken to shut down all hostels on campus and online classes will begin from July 26, 2021. 

A source sends information of DSA to Kossyderrickent:

"*IMPORTANT NOTICE.* *IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF HOSTELS TO CHECK THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 ON CAMPUS.*
To check the spread of Covid-19 on campus, the University Senate has directed that all students vacate the halls of residence latest by 12.00 noon on Thursday 15 July 2021. No access will be granted to any student after 12.00 noon on 15 July. The hostels will be locked indefinitely therefore students are advised to move all their personal effects at once. Lectures for the rest of the semester will be delivered virtually with effect from 26th July 2021. DSA."
