(Video) "We want to see V.C"- Students of Unizik say during protest against increment in tuition fees for freshers and returning students

Students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University have boldly stormed the administrative building or block of the school to protest over the hike of school fees for freshers and returning students. (Read More Here)

According to information reaching Kossyderrickent, fresher's tuition fees got increased to N102K, finalist's tuition fees got increased to N83K and 200-300 level students' tuition fees got increased to N60k plus.

In 2019, the Vice Chancellor of Unizik, Charles Okechukwu Esimone, allowed the increment of school fees from N20K to N50K. Now in 2021, he has allowed the increment of tuition fees from N50k to N102K, which is outrageous for a federal University.

Before the protest which is currently taking place at the school compound today, July 12, 2021, the management of Unizik released a statement in which it stated that the increment in tuition fees was fake and misleading.

The statement reads:

"The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has come to note the "rumour" on a purported increment in tuition fees of returning students of the institution for the 2020/2021 academic session being spread on the social media.

"For clarity, the University management has not increased the tuition for students since harmonising fees payable by students in 2019, which includes dues, such as: Faculty, departmental, association and convocation fee for graduating classes.

"As such, the news making the rounds of an increment in tuition is not only fake, but misleading and an attempt to cause unrest in the university."
