According to a source, the incident took place on Friday, July 31, 2021, in a lodge located at Gabiz Hotel, opposite Benue Judges Lodge, Makurdi.
In January 2020, Igyagher Isaac, joined the "Anti cultism" campaign, which drew in a few students that partook in the campaign on campus. According to a source, Igyagher Isaac, was shot dead and his body placed on his pile of clothes and was burnt.
A friend of his, Ongolo Neville, revealed in his statement on Facebook that Igyagher Isaac, was part of a philanthropy group, known as, JCINFUAM IPP. The philanthropy group used to help idle-bodies women in IDP camps.
He wrote: "GONE TOO SOON BROTHER.
I went for wedding today @ Sheraton today in honour of my long time friend. While at the wedding I met CJ and he show me a picture of one guy who was murdered yesterday. Lol and behold it was my very own JCINFUAM IPP Igyagher Isaac. Still I didn't believe until when I called my JCINFUAM member and he confirmed that is true, that's when I believed.
I knew you are a phenomenal personality, you have always ensure to put smiles on the crying faces. I can still recall when you called last month, you said Neville How can we engage those idle able bodied women in IDP camp. We suggested it is good for us too look for means how we can skilled some of the women through fashion designing. Immediately, you begun looking for partners to fund the project. Not knowing Mr dead will come uninvited to sweep you away like a flood.
"Igyagher Isaac, you made me act in great strength, a reserve me became open to easily reach out to people through one word you said to me. You said they are people just like me don't fear to reach out to them.
You lived your life on purpose. Whatever that surrendered surrendered your dead the good Lord know. May your soul rest in perfect peace.
I will forever remember you."
Another friend of his, Misa Japhet recounted how joined the Anti cultism campaign in January 2020.
Misa wrote:
"AM I DREAMING???
I have really been finding it difficult to make this post because I'm yet to believe that it's the same Jc Igyagher Isaac that I know so well that has been murdered gruesomely in the hands of cruel cultists who even attested to his innocence before killing him.
"I can still remember last year January when together, we stood and raised a banner to say "NO TO CULTISM".
I also remembered that when you presented this project in your plan of action at Smilesview hotel, many people were concerned about our safety during the campaign considering the delicate nature of the issue at hand. However, as the courageous leader which you have always been, you went ahead and led us in the march against cultism.
It's very heartbreaking at this point to hear that you met your untimely death in the hands of the same bloodthirsty cultists just over a year after speaking up!
"You where someone who took the lead, whenever you saw the need and you died in active service to humanity. Even the night when you met your untimely death, you where online mobilizing for support and resources in order to carry out a skill acquisition outreach at the IDP Camp. You saw the plight of the displaced persons, and moved ahead to work towards providing a lasting solution to this challenge.
Indeed, you " Saw the need, and Took the lead " but unfortunately, the cruel hand of death came and took you away so you couldn't see it's actualization.
"Your life on earth was short, but the chronicles of your impact to humanity cannot be exhausted.
It's really sad to say goodbye bro, but with submission to the will of God, I say Rest on my friend, brother and partner. Till we meet again on the other side."
