Walter Sisulu University student, Sibongile Mani, found guilty of swindling NSFAS of R14M

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Walter Sisulu University student, Sibongile Mani has been found guilty of swindling NSFAS. (Read More Here).

Recall that the sum of 14Million rands mistakenly got sent into Sibongile Mani's bank account on June 1, 2017. With a few hours, she spent R20K out of the money. 


Sibongile Mani is a Walter Sisulu University student. Her bank account got blocked on August 14 by Intellimali.

“The accused is described as a student activist in her own right, was in a leadership position at the university in 2017 and also the secretary of a student organisation. Based on the above alone, can it be said that the accused did not know the loan amount of the agreement she entered into in her second year of studies?

“The court is satisfied that the version of the state is reliable," Olivier says.

"Sibongile Mani has been found guilty of swindling NSFAS.
Magistrate Twanette Olivier says Sibongile was aware of her actions and continued to spend lavishly.
It is said Sibongile spent the money on appliances, weaves, gifts, toys, alcohol and cigarettes."
