Bandits have released one Elder Zachariah Aondoakaa Yanmar, in Kaduna State after 68 days in captivity. 

The Mbayongu, Vandeikya, Benue state indigine was kidnapped on 2nd of June, 2022 in Kaduna and later taken to Zamfara forest 

The Public Relations Officer of Mutual Union of Tiv people (MUT) Kaduna chapter, Philip Aanger, confirmed the release in a statement.

According to Mr Aanger, the abductors dropped off the victim along Sabon Brinin, Riga Chikum Road in Kaduna in the early hours of Tuesday, August 9.

"The former Ortamen (elder) at NKST church Television Kaduna was yesterday afternoon given credence by Tor Kuda Kaduna Chief James Wayo who apprised MUT Kaduna through Media platform that Elder Yanmar is back but receiving medications in an undisclosed hospital," the statement read. 

"The President MZOUGH U TIV Kaduna Hon. David Bem Chia expressed gratitude to God almighty for the freedom of his member Elder Yanmar, he also commended the efforts of the entire NKST Kaduna province who took all the necessary measures to ensure Ortamen Yanmar returns alive especially the NKST Church Television where elder Yanmar do worship, Hon Chia did not forget Elder John Wuave and Elder Emmanuel Kwaghaondo Agan who were at the forefront negotiating with the kidnappers

"He also mentioned Yongu Tiev development association Kaduna, friends and relatives who contributed in one way of the other to enable Elder Yanmar returned unharmed

"The Tiv Kaduna leader Hon. Bem Chia finally charged the Tiv community Kaduna not to be weary in their fervent prayers but indefatigably remains on their knees vociferating to God almighty who listens to the cry of his children until the menace is completely behadged."
