Kuje Prison Escapee, Idris Ojo Not Responsible for Owo Church Massacre - DHQ

The DHQ claimed that Idris Abdulmalik-Omeiza Idris (also known as Bin Malik), Momoh Otohu-Abubakar, Aliyu Yusuf-Itopa, and Auwal Ishaq-Onimisi, rather than Idris Ojo, were responsible for the church attack in a statement released by the defense spokesperson Jimmy Akpor on Wednesday.

A Boko Haram terrorist who escaped from the Kuje prison, Mr. Ojo, he said, had no connection to the attack in Owo.

Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza was the mastermind of the terror attack on the Owo Catholic Church as well as the attack on a police station in Adavi LGA, Kogi State on June 23, 2022, during which a policeman was killed and weapons were carted away, according to preliminary investigation, according to the defence chief.

The Defence Chief also cited the capture of Idris Ojo, a 32-year-old terrorist, who was captured on August 7, 2022, in Ayetoro Osi, Ondo State, thanks to the combined efforts of military and DSS officials. Idris Ojo was one of the alleged ISWAP terrorists that escaped from the Kuje Medium Correctional Center on July 5, 2022, according to the CDS.

The 39-year-old Jimoh Ibrahim, a supporter of the terrorist organization, who hosted Ojo, was also cited by the CDS as having been arrested with him, the man added.
