LIVE UPDATE: Speaker Martin Romualdez pays his last respects to former President Fidel Valdez Ramos at Heritage Park in Taguig City

Among those paying their last respects to FVR this morning are House Speaker Martin Romualdez, former Senate president Tito Sotto, and Senator Bong Revilla.

President Marcos arrives in Heritage Park to visit the wake of former president FVR.

We’re here at Heritage Park in Taguig to cover the wake of the late former president Fidel V. Ramos. The wake is open today to governement officials and members of the Ramos cabinet.

Former Senate president Tito Sotto remembers FVR as someone who was able to shed off political colors and work with people from the other side of the political fence.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr gives short statement to the media, says the late former president Fidel Ramos, when he was chief executive, was a “symbol of stability after the tumultuous events of 1986.”

Marcos on FVR’s death: We clearly have suffered the loss for our country. But the memories of him will be good because of the good work he did for the Philippines.

Ramos was Marcos Jr.'s distant uncle. He was AFP vice chief of staff under the Marcos Sr. administration, and FVR's decision to withdraw his support from his dictator-cousin was considered a crucial turning point that led to the 1986 EDSA uprising.
