BIOGRAPHY, AGE AND CAUSE OF DEATH: Dead body of 33-year-old, Stanley Wright Seven7Hardaway, deposited at mortuary after being shot dead in Sherwood Place Apartments, Baton Rouge

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Dead body of 33-year-old, Stanley Wright Seven7Hardaway, deposited at mortuary after being shot dead in Sherwood Place Apartments, Baton Rouge.

Authorities on Wednesday identified the victim, shot dead around 8:00 p.m. the previous night at the Sherwood Place Apartments on Sherwood Common Boulevard about a mile east of Airline Highway, as 33-year-old Stanley Wright. Assailants confronted Wright as he walked out of an apartment, firing at him multiple times from close range and leaving him for dead on the pavement, witnesses said.

Investigators believe that Wright was targeted and that the shooting was gang-related, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

A woman who stood among several onlookers near the apartment building described hearing six or seven gunshots. When Wright was slain, he wore khaki pants and a light-colored T-shirt — clothing illuminated by the blue glow of sheriffs’ units lights as his body remained on the concrete for about an hour after the shooting. About a dozen agents marked the scene and a handful of neighbors looked on.

“He was a good man trying to turn his life around, someone who didn’t deserve what happened to him tonight,” said a woman who said she knew Wright, but declined to identify herself for fear of retaliation.

In a court hearing for Edwards in the summer of 2020, police described his connections to a string of violence in the city stemming from TBG's battles with two rival gangs: Never Broke Again, the group popularized by rapper NBA YoungBoy, and south-side Bottom Boy Gorillas.

Despite the violence that has spilled out from Baton Rouge's rap scene and which claimed Wright's life, his relative described Wright as a loving father to two young girls, someone who was successfully getting his life on track and was averse to violence person. Court records show Wright was never accused of a violent crime.

His killing was at least the 75th of the year in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to records maintained by The Advocate.

The newspaper tracks killings that meet FBI crime reporting standards — those ruled intentional and unjustified. The data is preliminary and subject to change if some killings are later ruled unintentional or justified, or vice versa.
