"Mini Lic" - Dámaso López Serrano gets released from prison in California, USA

Dámaso López Serrano , better known as the "Mini Lic" , and who is accused of being the alleged mastermind of the murder of journalist Javier Valdez, was released from prison in California.

His release took place this Friday, September 16 , according to the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons, after serving a 72-month sentence in prison.

Griselda Triana, widow of Javier Valdez , condemned the release of the "Mini Lic".

“ It is confirmed that the person who had Javier Valdez Cárdenas killed was released. The Minilic, who paid 100 thousand pesos to assassinate him, will now work for the US government. The United States protects murderers of journalists! Let's not allow it! ”, He expressed on his Facebook profile.

Dámaso López Serrano, alias "Mini Lic" of the Sinaloa Cartel, was sentenced in San Diego federal court to 72 months in prison for drug trafficking and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine.

“I just want to offer an apology to all those people I have hurt so much with my actions. I did wrong and I admit it. I was wrong to choose that path, ”said López Serrano before receiving the punishment from him, according to journalist Keegan Hamilton on his Twitter account.

“I have suffered the loss of many family and friends. I have been through difficult and painful times, but my family was with me… I am going to be a completely different person than I was. I ask for a chance to start a new life,” she added, according to Hamilton.

With the time he has been detained, Dámaso is eligible for release. It will now have to be decided whether he can remain in the United States or is deported to Mexico, where he is wanted for the 2017 murder of journalist Javier Valdés.
