Indonesia’s national badminton coach Eng Hian has apologised, after he was heard referring to Malaysian women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M Thinaah as “putih” and “hitam”.

A video of the incident had gone viral.

The incident occurred while he was giving instructions to his players, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi at the French Open championship.

In a video posted to Twitter, he said he had no intention to upset the Malaysian players.
