PHOTOS: Keke Palmer dresses up as Rapunzel for Halloween

Keke Palmer dresses up as Rapunzel for Halloween.

Keke Palmer has her eyes set on playing Rapunzel in a hypothetical live-action film about the princess. Luckily, the "Nope" star has a history of asking for roles — and landing them. In fact, Palmer actually reached out for her parts in "Insecure" and the "Sister Act 3" film, proving her long list of talents also includes the power of persuasion.

Before appearing in "Insecure"'s fifth season, she tweeted at Issa Rae, saying, "Hey @IssaRae there's been a mix up. I posted about my excitement for season 5 of 'Insecure' and now everyone thinks I'm gonna be on it. We can't let them down, put me in to beat Condola's ass real quick." And for her role in "Sister Act 3," she took her ask directly to Whoopi Goldberg when she guest starred on "The View."

This time, Palmer is manifesting her dream role a bit more casually. Amid the conversation around Halle Bailey's casting as the live-action Ariel in "The Little Mermaid," one of Palmer's fans tweeted, "I want Keke Palmer to play live action Rapunzel with 100ft box braids."

People have been fan-casting their favorite Black actors in response to the racist backlash Disney and Halle Bailey have received for the new The Little Mermaid film. Palmer posted an Instagram photo where someone pitched her as Rapunzel “with 100 ft box braids.” “The internet already has me booked all next year. I’m not available until 2024 at this pace,” wrote Palmer. Obviously, stars need breaks as well, but we know Palmer can sing, dance, and act. It’s very hard not to imagine her singing “I Have a Dream” or “I See the Light.” And after starring in Nope and the upcoming film Being Mortal, she might want a break to prepare for her next big role. So while we rewatch Scream or put on a True Jackson, VP, hopefully someone is working behind the scenes to make her Rapunzel.

She’s so delightful, and she has the best responses to questions like this. Along with Rogue, there has been a campaign for her to play a live-action Rapunzel. On this front she posted on Instagram with a caption saying at the pace the internet requests her for roles she’ll be unavailable “until 2024 at this pace.” Which is also how she responded to the X-Men rumors.

Personally, I’d love to see Palmer in the MCU. She’d be taking over the role from Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in the OG X-Men movies, who could also come back based on Marvel's track record with the X-Men cast. We know that both Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds will be reprising their roles as the respective Wolverine and Deadpool in the MCU’s Deadpool 3. Also, if you’ve been watching the Marvel movies in order, you saw Patrick Stewart come back as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, it wouldn't be far-fetched to see other original X-Men actors, like Paquin, return to Marvel. However, we’ve also seen three different Spider-Men over the course of many years, and then all three in the same movie, so anything is possible.
