VIDEO: A young Malawian woman's, Bridget Thapwile Soko, academic qualification has been revoked by her former University after she recorded herself burning her Business Administration degree

A young Malawian woman's academic qualification has been revoked by her former University after she recorded herself burning her Business Administration degree, claiming it's not as useful as she though for it has not landed her any job opportunity.

“You reach a point of getting tired,” Soko says in the video. “Whenever I see this degree, it gives me fake promises that I will get a job.”

Bridget Thapwile Soko was awarded the degree after successfully completing a four year course at the Lilongwe based, Exploits University, a privately owned institution.

The University went ahead to revoke Ms. Thapwile's academic qualification, saying; the act tarnished the image of the institution and it had decided to invalidate her degree certificate with immediate effect.

“The University is therefore revoking the degree of business administration awarded to you. Our decision will also be made public through two major newspapers. Consequently you are no longer a graduate of Exploits University as such your degree certificate is invalidated with immediate effect,” reads part of the letter

Angry Malawians stormed the University's page, some claiming the institution through the one-sided decision, has just confirmed their degrees are not as useful as the qualification should be.

Others also demanded a full refund of school fees to Ms. Thapwile after the revocation.
