ELBOWED VIDEO FOOTAGE: Russell Westbrook BLEEDING blood after flagrant 2 foul by Zach Collins

Russell Westbrook BLEEDING blood after flagrant 2 foul by Zach Collins.

Westbrook was fighting for the rebound after a miss late in the third quarter of the Lakers’ game against the Spurs on the road when Collins caught the head of the former league MVP. Collins appears to have put a little bit more force on his duty foul on Westbrook, as he was attempting to prevent Westbrook from scoring off an offensive rebound.

Westbrook hit the ground after Collins’ foul but immediately got up and charged at the Spurs’ backup power forward. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed, with Collins also not electing to push back and make the situation worse.

Blood was seen running down the forehead of Westbrook, which was probably what got him even more heated. LeBron James, who was trying to pacify Westbrook, played the role of a first-aid expert and put on a towel on Westbrook’s bleeding forehead.

Collins isn’t known to be a dirty player and there was nothing there to believe that he was looking to hurt Westbrook.

The Lakers are looking to win their second game in a row and fifth in six games. They already beat the Spurs last Friday (105-94) and last Sunday (123-92). Another win over San Antonio should be enough of a payback for Westbrook.

Collins, late in the third quarter of the game, blocked Westbrook at the rim and hit him hard in the head — which sent Westbrook down to the court. Westbrook then immediately jumped up and charged at Collins. Before he could do much, though, LeBron James grabbed Westbrook and held him back.

Westbrook had blood streaking down his face as he walked back toward the Lakers bench.

After a review, Collins was hit with a flagrant 2 foul and ejected. Westbrook received a technical foul, and then left the game after shooting free throws for the locker room.

Collins finished his night with 12 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. Westbrook later returned to the bench from the locker room and checked back into the game. The team said the cut on his head didn’t need any stitches. He finished the night with 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 27 minutes.

James led the Lakers with 39 points and 11 rebounds in the win while shooting 7-of-12 from behind the arc. The win marked the fifth in six games for the Lakers, and their second straight over San Antonio.
