A father was killed in Brooklyn on Thursday morning, while his two daughters were stabbed during a “home invasion.” But according to the New York Post, police believe what they initially considered a burglary may have actually been a staged murder by his own child.

The eldest daughter — 22-year-old transgender Nikki Secondino — told cops that a group of robbers broke into their Bensonhurst house just before 6 AM and demanded that her dad, 61-year-old Carlo Secondino, gave up all of his money from a safe. She claimed they were later stabbed by the thieves, but police were puzzled by the statement since Carlo did not possess a safe to begin with.

The youngest daughter, 19, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition while Nikki was taken to NYU Langone Hospital to recover from a supposed minor injury. The dad died at the scene. Per the aforementioned publication, however, there have been countless reports of domestic violence in the family household this past year, such as an incident where Carlo allegedly threatened to kill his youngest daughter, as well as several disputes between the sisters over the summer.
