In another news, Police then got a call for a shooting at a LA hotel in which they found Stephen with reported self-inflicted gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead.

Stephen was most known from being a DJ on Ellen’s talk show for many years. He began in 2014 and was there up until the show ended in 2022. He was also named an executive producer on the show in 2020.

He was a dancer on the hit show “So You Think Can Dance,” and had a role in “Magic Mike XXL.” He leaves behind a wife and three children. May he rest peacefully.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," Boss' wife, Allison Holker Boss, 34, confirms exclusively in a statement to PEOPLE. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans."

"To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt," she continued. "I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children."

Closing her statement, Allison shared a message for her husband. "Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you," she concluded.Boss rose to fame as a contestant on MTV's The Wade Robson Project before becoming a runner-up on Star Search. He later competed on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008, ending season 4 as a runner-up and later returning as an All-Star. He was a judge when the show returned in 2022.

In 2014, Boss joined The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a guest DJ. He eventually became a permanent fixture on the series and was elevated to co-executive producer status in 2020.

The late star previously co-hosted Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings with Allison. He also appeared in many high-profile films and shows, including Magic Mike XXL, Modern Family and Step Up All In.

Offscreen, Boss frequently posted fun dance videos with wife Allison — who also competed on SYTYCD — on social media. Their kids would often join the pair in their dance video posts.

Boss is survived by his wife Allison as well as children Zaia, 3, Maddox, 6, and Weslie, 14.

Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, confirmed the news in a statement to People, writing, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

Holker continued, “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

Boss began DJing on “Ellen” in 2014 and remained on the daytime talk series until it ended in 2022. In 2020, DeGeneres named him an executive producer.

Boss broke into Hollywood after finishing in second place on Season 4 of “So You Think You Can Dance.” After dancing as an extra in films like “Blades of Glory” and “Hairspray,” he began landing bigger roles in “Step Up 3D” and “Magic Mike XXL.” Boss’ credits also include “Step Up All In,” “Modern Family,” “Ghostbusters,” “Love,” “East Los High,” “Bones,” “Touch” and “Famous in Love.”

Early in his career, he choreographed for K-pop artists Seven and Big Bang. Later on, Boss went co-founded CLI Studios, which offers online dance classes with top choreographers.

Growing up in Alabama, Boss went on to study dance performance at Southern Union State Community College before transferring to Chapman University. He married Holker, in 2013, and they had three children. Together, the couple hosted Disney+ docuseries “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings.”

Law enforcement sources told the publication that Stephen’s wife Allison Holker–who he met during their time on So You Think You Can Dance–ran into an LAPD station on Tuesday. She was said to be frantic because she said her husband left home without his car, which she said that wasn’t like him.

A short time later, police got a call for a shooting at a Los Angeles hotel, which is where they found Stephen, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Boss has been a beloved public figure for more than a decade now, getting his break in 2008, when he was runner-up on So You Think Can Dance. He also went on to so some acting, including a role in Magic Mike XXL.

It’s safe to say most fans knew Stephen from his DJing gig on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which he started in 2014. He was with her until the show ended in 2022, being made an executive producer on the show in 2020.

Stephen and Allison were always posting videos together on social media, oftentimes showing off their joint love of dancing. Together, they hosted Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings on Disney+. The couple got married in 2013, having just celebrated their 9-year anniversary on Saturday. They had 3 kids.

Stephen was 40 years old. Rest In Peace. He really got his big break in showbiz in 2008, when he was runner-up on "So You Think Can Dance."

He went on to do some acting, landing several roles where he could show off his dance skills. Stephen played Jason in the 'Step Up' movie franchise, and he was also in "Magic Mike XXL."

The last time our photogs got him out around L.A. was back in September, and he talked to us about life after 'Ellen' ... sounding pretty happy to have more time with his family.

The couple met on the all-star season of 'SYTYCD" -- they were both competing -- and they got married in 2013. Allison and Stephen had just celebrated their 9-year anniversary this past Saturday.

They had 3 kids. Stephen was 40 years old.

RIP.
