The Postbank has revealed that a staggering amount of R77 Million that was lost back in a 2021 hack on its IT system was allegedly stolen by one of its contractors.

Shelembe claimed there were no Postbank workers involved and hinted that the suspect was a Postbank contractor. The only information he provided regarding the circumstances was that the hack cost the department R77 million in the fiscal year 2021–2022.

Postbank spokesperson Dr Bongani Diako said:

"For the reasons to not want to educate perpetrators, as well as protect the processes under way and the integrity of the payments systems, Postbank will not go into any details"
