Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that 13-year-old student of Brookland Middle, Karon Blake, murdered as he was shot multiple times by D.C homeowner for breaking into cars. 

Karon Blake, 13, was shot & killed by a NE man who tells police he saw him breaking into cars early Sat.

Tonight Karon’s school shared photos of him, describing him as a quiet & inquisitive 6th grader who loved football & fashion. Police have not yet id’d or charged shooter.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened around 3:56 a.m. in the 1000 block of Quincy Street, not far from Brookland Middle School and Turkey Thicket Recreation Center.

According to investigators, the unidentified homeowner confronted and shot the 13-year-old after claiming that the boy was breaking into several vehicles along the street. 

They said the boy was shot multiple times.

There is no indication of who placed the 911 call reporting the incident.

Police did not release specific details about the confrontation, but add that there was no indication that the 13-year-old was armed.

Investigators said, when officers arrived at the scene, they found the homeowner performing CPR on the boy.

The 13-year-old was taken to an area hospital after the shooting, and later pronounced dead.

Investigators said that the firearm used in the shooting was legally registered, and the homeowner is cooperating with authorities.Authorities are still working to determine whether any criminal charges are warranted against the homeowner.

Authorities have been pretty tight-lipped about the incident, but have said that there was no indication the boy was armed, and the firearm used in the shooting was legally registered by the homeowner, who is allegedly cooperating with authorities.

Although police have yet to release the name of the shooter, according to Fox 5 the 13-year-old boy was identified by police as Karon Blake. Blake was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe two other boys who were involved in the altercation fled the scene on foot before police could arrive. 

There has been no arrest in the shooting death of Karon Blake and community leaders are outraged at the lack of transparency. 

“I’m at a loss for words as to what would possess a resident to take matters into their own hands and take the life of a young person,” Ward 5 Council Member Zachary Parker told Fox 5.
