22-year-old Woman, Krishna Mandal, swims from Bangladesh to India to marry boyfriend, Abhik Mandal, she met on Facebook

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Woman swims from Bangladesh to India to marry boyfriend she met on Facebook. 


A Bangladesh woman swam for an hour after crossing the Sunderbans to meet and marry her boyfriend, whom she met via Facebook. 

Here's what happened.

Krishna Mandal, a 22-year-old woman from Bangladesh, had no passport to visit India, but that did not stop her from meeting her boyfriend and getting married to him. 

Krishna Mandal and Abhik Mandal first met on the social media platform, where they struck a chord and fell in love with each other. The meeting 

Krishna met Abhik in the Kaikhali village in West Bengals’ South 24 Parganas district. The duo then drove off to Kolkata where they tied the knot at the Kalighat Temple.

Kolkata police gets involved

Krishna's story of love got viral on social media which caught the attention of police. They arrested her on Monday for illegally entering the country. It has been reported that she will be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission.

Three days ago, Krishna got married to Abhik at Kalighat Temple in Kolkata. However, she was arrested on Monday for illegally entering the country.

Sources said that Krishna may be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission.

Earlier this year, a Bangladeshi teen swam across the border to buy chocolate from India.

Eman Hossain swam across a small river and crossed the border into India through a gap in a fence to get his favourite chocolate bar. The teen was handed over to the local police, after which he was produced before the court. He was then remanded to 15 days in judicial custody.


Krishna was arrested on Monday for illegally entering the country. Sources claim that Krishna will now be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission. Did you know that this isn't the first time someone illegally crossed borders?

A Bangladeshi teen had swam across the border to buy his favorite chocolates. According to reports, Eman Hossain swam and crossed the border into India to get his favorite chocolate bar. The teenager was arrested. He was remanded to 15 days in judicial custody.

In March, a Vietnamese man who had not seen his wife, who works in India, in two years due to the pandemic decided to row 2,000 kilometres on a rafting boat to meet her. Thai fishermen found him after he had spent 18 nights alone on the sea. He had a suitcase, a near-empty water bottle and about 10 packets of instant noodles - but no map, compass, GPS or clothes.
