As the match reached its apex, the crowd in San Antonio was stunned when the number 30 entrant proved to be Nia Jax, who was originally released from the company in November 2021.

Jax wasn’t long for the match either as Ripley dropped her with the Rip Tide before all eleven other competitors helped to eliminate her from the match.

While Green is believed to have signed a deal with WWE, it is not yet known if Nia Jax will be back on a regular basis in WWE or if her appearance was a one-night deal for the Rumble.

Xavier Woods entered at No. 6, giving the New Day a serious edge against the field. The reigning NXT tag team champions laid out the competition before teasing a one-on-one fight. Undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens in a physically taxing main event. In the aftermath of the match, Reigns demanded that Zayn lay out his defenseless estranged best friend with a career-ending blow. Zayn ultimately turned his back on The Bloodline, refusing to submit to his cruel demands. The most compelling component of the closing segment may just be Jey Uso walking out on The Bloodline, a full circle moment dating back to the group's origins and Jey Uso's feud with Reigns in 2020.

Roman Reigns was about to unleash a chair shot on an already knocked out Kevin Owens but before he took the swing, Sami came in front and stopped him. Roman then hands the chair to Sami Zayn to let him do the beating, but Zayn is in two minds. Roman tries to encourage him but Sami is still reluctant. Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley are WrestleMania bound after winning their respective matches at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble. The show closed on an emotional high note as one of WWE's best storylines in recent memory took a major step forward with Sami Zayn and The Bloodline.

Rhodes and Ripley were the frontrunners to win their Royal Rumble matches and they did just that. Their bouts were short on legitimate surprises but featured record-setting performances and set up the winners for world title shots at WrestleMania 39.

Roman goes on a rampage on Owens, slamming his head on the steel steps twice before a devastating spear acted as the final nail in the coffin. 1, 2 and 3. Roman Reigns beats Kevin Owens to retain the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. The 850-plus day reign continues.

The latest stars to return to WWE after being released under Vince McMahon’s management revealed themselves in the women’s Royal Rumble as Chelsea Green and former Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax returned to a WWE ring – but neither lasted very long.

Chelsea Green was the first to make her highly-anticipated return after news emerged that she had signed a deal with WWE several weeks ago. Green made her entrance into the Rumble match at number 20 and lasted a grand total of four seconds in the match before being eliminated by Rhea Ripley.
