BIOGRAPHY AND WIKIPEDIA: VAXXED? 25-year-old Winkel Sport B goalkeeper, Arne Espeel, died suddenly during football match in Belgium

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that 25-year-old Winkel Sport B goalkeeper, Arne Espeel, confirmed dead during football match in Belgium.

Arne Espeel, a goalkeeper of the Winkel Sport B, has died on the spot after stopping a penalty kick in the second half of the match.

With a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the second half, Winkel Sport B conceded a penalty. Arne Espeel saved the penalty kick, but shortly afterwards became unwell and fell to the ground. It was immediately clear that it was serious. Emergency services rushed to the scene and immediately performed CPR. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was then taken to hospital, where he died later that evening. An autopsy will follow on Monday.

Arne Espeel is the cousin of the Ledegem alderman Emiel Debusseré. His brother is second goalkeeper in the first team of Winkel Sport. Arne was not married, but did have a girlfriend. He lived with his parents and had an older sister and a younger brother. The goalkeeper graduated as a commercial engineer and then started working for Picanol in Ypres, where he worked as a Project Engineer Supply Chain.

Winkel Sport is in deep mourning. “Our players immediately saw that something serious was going on”, sports manager Wim Dupont responds a day after the facts. “Immediately the emergency services were notified and CPR was started by some bystanders with first aid training. Arne was eventually taken to hospital in a critical condition. There he eventually died. When this news came in, it was really quiet in our cafeteria. So it was really from euphoria because of the stopped penalty kick to great sadness in a few seconds.”

“How are we going to remember Arne? Arne was a club boy, having played here since he was little and would probably stay here. He was a quiet and sympathetic guest about whom I cannot say a single bad word. He was also doing very well personally this season and proved this once again with that stopped penalty kick. He was also a welcome person among the youth as a goalkeeper coach. It is certainly a great loss for Winkel sport as a whole, but in the first instance, of course, also for his family.”

Arne Espeel's teammates meet in the canteen on Sunday afternoon around 1 pm to catch up. “It happens in a very serene atmosphere. There we will probably decide what will happen and what will not happen in the coming weeks. It is a situation that we as a club, despite our rich history, have never experienced.”

The 25-year-old player kicked the penalty and then collapsed on the lawn with no vital signs. The goalkeeper received first aid, involving defibrillator treatment, but died on the way to the hospital.

"It's a tragedy and a shock to us. Arne had been with the club his whole life, and he was dearly loved. It's a really hard blow," Het Nieuwsblad quoted Winkel Sport Club sports director Patrick Rotsaert as saying.

Earlier it became known that İbrahim Halil Ölmez, the coach of the Turkish club Iskenderunspor, died during a strong earthquake in Turkey.
