Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's mom, Ata Johnson, involved in car crash in Los Angeles. Sending prayers to her for a speedy recovery

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's mom involved in car crash in Los Angeles. Sending prayers to her for a speedy recovery.

The Black Adam star added that 'she’ll survive and continue to get evaluated,' noting the obstacles she's previously overcome.

'This woman has survived lung cancer, tough marriage, head on collision with a drunk driver and attempted suicide,' the A-list actor said. 'She’s a survivor, in ways that make angels and miracles real.'

The gracious father of three then called out the first responders who helped him and his mother through the ordeal. “Thank you LAPD & LAFD for being so caring & focused,” he continued. “Thanks for staying on phone [sic] and talking me thru it all. I got one parent left, so if you still got your mom and dad make sure you hug ‘em hard, cos you never know when you’ll get that 3am call [sic] we never want to get.” Dwayne’s father, Rocky Johnson, died in 2020 at the age of 75.

Many of the Jungle Cruise actor’s 361 million followers took to the comments thread to react to the shocking photo. “I’m glad she’s ok! Will be sending healing vibes,” commented one, while another wrote, “In my prayers for a speedy recovery.” Others commiserated with the star over the loss of a parent. “I know how it feels I lost my mom to cancer last year,” reacted a fan. “I miss our talks and her laugh, but mostly I miss her. I’m glad your mom is ok.”

Fans were quick to wish Ata well, meanwhile, with one commenting: "Sending prayers for her recovery from any pain or trauma. Wholeheartedly agree on that though, we really never know. In 2015 the state police came over and informed us my brother was killed in a crash. Lost control on the interstate. I’m so glad your mom has endured, and continue to endure.

Another wrote: "Your mother is such a warrior. I'm so glad that she's ok."

And a fourth said: "Glad she’s okay, Rock. Life is precious, and it’s so easy to take for granted but we should stay grateful."

Bodybuilding industry icons Phil Heath and Ronnie Coleman both sent kind messages to Johnson.

'Brother, I am so sorry your mom endured this but very thankful to God she’s okay,' Heath said. 'I can only imagine the stress you felt in that moment. Sending love and prayer.'

Coleman said, 'I know exactly what you mean. I lost my only parent almost 6 years ago. That hole never heals and i miss my mom every day. God Bless yours and may she live forever.'

As her son had said, Ata has bravely persevered through a number of difficult life events.

She successfully battled stage three lung cancer in 2010, and in August of 2014, survived a head-on collision after she was stuck head on by a drunk driver headed home from a family fundraiser, TMZ reported.

Johnson told Express in 2018 about his mother's suicide attempt, which happened when he was 15 after the family was evicted from an apartment amid lean times in their business.

'She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic,' Johnson said. 'I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road.'

The resilient star added, 'What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever - probably best she doesn’t.'

Johnson thanked authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Fire Department 'for being so caring & focused' and 'for staying on phone and talking me thru it all.'

Johnson, whose father Rocky Johnson died in January of 2020, urged his followers to show love to their parents.

'I got one parent left, so if you still got your mom and dad make sure you hug ‘em hard, cos you never know when you’ll get that 3am call we never want to get,' he said.

The news came on an already solemn day amongst the pro wrestling community amid the death of 'The Genius' Lanny Poffo at 68.

Across the social media format, a number of Johnson's contemporaries across in entertainment and sports sent kind words to the caring son in the wake of the scary accident.

Wrestling star Mercedes Varnado said, 'Glad she’s good. Sending love and prayers.'

Olympian Lolo Jones said, 'Prayers for her recovery! Glad she’s ok!!'

Rosie O'Donnell said, 'prayers answered,' while Pierce Brosnan said, 'God bless.'
