Elon Musk is reportedly interested in making a $5.4 billion move to buy Manchester United, per Daily Mail

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Elon Musk is reportedly interested in making a $5.4 billion move to buy Manchester United, per Daily Mail.

Manchester United co-owners Joel and Avram Glazer are sounding out the possibility of buying the club shares of their other four siblings.

Prospective bidders interested in a United takeover are being asked to submit their bids and proposals by February 17 in what is considered a soft deadline.

Both Joel and Avram are reluctant sellers despite frequent fan protests against their ownership. Elsewhere, it is being reported that Elon Musk is tracking the takeover situation at United and mulling over a £4.5bn move.

Meanwhile, United recorded their fifth win in six games on Sunday, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho handing the Reds a 2-0 win at Leeds.

Meanwhile, United recorded their fifth win in six games on Sunday, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho handing the Reds a 2-0 win at Leeds.

Rashford's goal took him to eight in domestic competitions for the year 2023, which for a few hours had him as the sole top-scorer across Europe's top five leagues since the turn of the year - Napoli's Victor Osimhen quickly drew level later on Sunday evening. The 25-year-old's form was enough for Ten Hag to admit he is arguably one of the best forward's in the world at the moment.

United head to Spain on Thursday for the first-leg of their Europa League play-off against Barcelona. Ten Hag admitted prior to Sunday's game against Leeds that the trio of Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay and Antony were all doubtful, with all three set for late fitness tests.

The billionaire bro-down comes at a particularly intriguing time for Musk, whose $44 billion acquisition of Twitter and subsequent leadership of the social media site to rail against an alleged liberal bias among “mainstream media” has elicited comparisons to Murdoch’s oversight of his own media empire.

But Musk, who wore a “rodeo doge” T-shirt with dogecoin’s Shiba Inu canine mascot in a cowboy hat at the game, suggested the discussion between he and Murdoch was far more innocuous than a high-brow meeting of media minds.

Replying to a tweet speculating what the moguls were discussing at the Super Bowl, Musk doubled down on his meme coin touting, offering a one-word reply: “Dogecoin.”

Musk’s $185 billion fortune is the second-largest in the world, according to Forbes’ calculations, while Murdoch’s $18 billion net worth makes him the 89th-richest person on the planet. Musk’s wealth pile comes nearly entirely from his stakes in SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter – each of which he leads as CEO. Murdoch’s fortune comes from his vast media holdings, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, and the $71.3 billion sale of many of Fox’s entertainment assets to Disney in 2019.

A number of parties have expressed an interest in buying United, which could be purchased for a world-record price for a sports franchise at £4.5billion, or more.

Interest comes from the Far East, Middle East and United States with Raines Group, the merchant bank, tasked with the sale.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who happens to be a Man Utd fan, is also keen.

But according to the Daily Mail, Twitter and Tesla owner Musk also LIKES Man Utd. Musk, 51, who's worth a reported £157billion, is one of a select few who could afford to buy the Red Devils.

He is second only to Bernard Arnault, the CEO and chair of luxury goods company LMVH, worth a reported £156m.

Musk is believed to be monitoring the situation closely following the listing of United.

The South African-born brainbox is wondering if there is an opportunity at Old Trafford that he should not miss.
