Kagiso Secondary School teacher in Krugersdorp shot and killed an assailant who was brandishing a knife after stabbing a fellow teacher.

As soon as he walked into the building, the attacker demanded to speak with the principal,which propelled the teacher to fire his gun.

The Gauteng education department are looking into the matter why the teacher was carrying a gun while at school.

Gauteng Education will probe why a teacher was armed while at school. The Kagiso Secondary School teacher shot and killed a knife-wielding attacker after he stabbed his colleague. 

The unknown assailant entered the school, demanding to speak to the principal.

Some pupils could be seen sitting silently in small groups outside the school's premises, reeling in shock after the incident. 

Teachers stood behind closed gates, waiting for law enforcement officials to investigate the deadly shooting on school grounds.
