Uyajola 9/9 host, Jub Jub, has been fired by Moja Love due to alleged offensive behavior that has caused negative publicity for the channel

Moja LOVE has parted ways with Uyajola 9/9 presenter Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye.

A source confirmed the news to TshisaLIVE saying the media personality's contract was set to be renewed in March however he was told the channel had no intentions of renewing it.

Moja LOVE shared a statement with TshisaLIVE saying Jub Jub was never a permanent employee and could not be fired by the channel.

“Jub Jub is an independent contractor and therefore cannot be dismissed as he is not a permanent employee of the channel. Moja LOVE is also not at liberty to discuss the contents of his contract as it is confidential and of a privileged nature” head of Moja TV Channels, Bokani Moyo said.

The musician and TV presenter reportedly appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court in North West on Wednesday, 22 February.

His lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi of Baloyi-Ntsako Attorneys, reveals that Maarohanye has asked him to file an application to overturn his boss’ decision in the Johannesburg High Court tomorrow, 28 February.

Ntsako Baloyi of Baloyi-Ntsako Attorneys confirmed that Maarohanye had been fired from the channel through an email:

“It’s not clear why he was dismissed. It’s unfortunate that he wasn’t paid his salary for January. When we enquired about it and demanded that he be paid, we received a letter stating that he had been let go.”

“We’re in the process of approaching the high court and we don’t want to discuss details at the moment.”

City Press reported in December 2022 that Maarohanye allegedly wrecked Moja Love’s relationship with one of its funders, the Bakgatla-ba-Kgafela tribal community (in December) and caused the cancellation of the Moses Kotane Arts Festival (which is organised by the channel) and threatened to harm business partner Keabetswe Mokoena.

The publication reveals that Maarohanye’s former bodyguard, Xolani “Mr X” Maphanga, who hosts X-Repo show has been tipped to replace Jub Jub on Uyajola 9/9.

The source said Jub Jub was set to contest the matter in court.

Jub Jub's business partner's legal representatives, Munyaitsi Attorneys, instructed that Jub Jub be removed from participating in the festival.

“Once again, a woman has fallen a victim of abuse in the hands of Jub Jub during 16 Days of Activism.” read the statement shared by Keabetswe's legal representatives.

Attempts by TshisaLIVE to get comment from Jub Jub's legal representative, Terrence Baloyi of Baloyi-Ntsako Attorneys, were unsuccessful at the time of publishing this article. An update will be included once received.

A senior source at Moja Love informed City Press that Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye was fired as host of Uyajola 9/9 two weeks ago via a letter. It is understood the channel will not be renewing his contract when it ends on 18 March.

The Uyajola 9/9 host Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye was also allegedly fired by Moja Love in December 2021 after his interview with Podcast and Chill with MacG.

This is after he talked about his former lovers Kelly Khumalo and actress Amanda du Pont using derogatory terms.

According to City Press, Maarohanye claimed that the mother of his child Kelly Khumalo had lured him away from popular du Pont, and gave unflattering details about those relationships.

Moja Love head of channels Bokani Moyo told City Press the Uyajola 99/99 host is an independent contractor and therefore cannot be dismissed. “He is not a permanent employee of the channel. Moja Love is also not at liberty to discuss the contents of his contract, as it is confidential and of a privileged nature.”

Tau had not responded to City Press’ requests for comment at the time of going to print, while Maarohanye was unavailable to comment to The South African.
