NBA fines Cam Thomas $40,000 for using a derogatory and disparaging remark during last night’s interview. saying “No Homo”.

I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the post-game interview. I was excited about the win and was being playful,' he said.

'I definitely didn't intend to offend anyone, but realize that I probably did. My apologies again. Much love.'

Greenberg said 'sure the league office will enjoy that one' after Thomas' remark, and his wry prediction proved correct.

Thomas is not the first NBA player to be fined for homophobic language.

In 2018, Nuggets center Nikola Jokic said that the Bulls' Wendell Carter Jr. is 'longer than you expect,' but prefaced that comment by saying, 'no homo.'

Jokic was fined $25k for the comment, while former Pacers center Roy Hibbert was fined the same amount for the same offense in 2013.

After the game, Thomas was being interviewed on the court alongside new teammate Spencer Dinwiddie, who had said two days prior that while the Nets may have not gotten the most talented players in the deal that sent Kyrie Irving to Dallas, Brooklyn certainly got “the best looking.” Thomas was then asked on TNT about Dinwiddie’s comment and responded, “We already had good-looking guys, no homo.”

Shortly after the postgame interview, Thomas took to social media to apologize for the anti-gay remark.

“I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the postgame interview,” he wrote on Twitter. “I was excited about the win and was being playful. I definitely didn’t intend to offend anyone, but realize that I probably did. My apologies again. Much love.”

TNT asked Thomas about Dinwiddie's comment, who replied: "We already had good-looking guys, no homo."

The NBA has fined Thomas $40,000 "for using derogatory and disparaging remark".

The player later issued an apology on social media.

"I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the postgame interview," Thomas said. "I was excited about the win and was being playful. I definitely didn't intend to offend anyone, but realize that I probably did. My apologies again. Much love."
