VIDEO: St. Joseph's Catholic High School Student, Josh Alexander, Arrested And Suspended After Saying There Are Only 2 Genders in Renfrew, Ontario

St. Joseph's Catholic High School Student, Josh Alexander, Arrested And Suspended After Saying There Are Only 2 Genders in Renfrew, Ontario.

In Renfrew, Ontario, a 16-year-old student named Josh Alexander was suspended from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in November 2022 when he said in class that there are only 2 genders. He was told he wouldn't be allowed back in school for the rest of the year unless he retracted his statement; administrators also told him his presence on campus would be "detrimental to the physical and mental well-being" to transgender students.

“Offence is obviously defined by the offended. I expressed my religious beliefs in class and it spiraled out of control,” Josh said. “Not everybody’s going to like that. That doesn’t make me a bully. It doesn’t mean I’m harassing anybody. They express their beliefs and I express mine. Mine obviously don’t fit the narrative.”

Anyone who looks into Alexander’s social media presence will see that he is a political activist. He’s pro-life, and he favours a red ball cap that reads “Save Canada” on the front. He’s even been photographed at protests against the Trudeau government on Parliament Hill.

All of that will see critics say that Alexander doesn’t deserve any sympathy, that he got what was coming to him. This is where we are in political discourse in Canada.

Josh Alexander was suspended last November over comments made about gender in class and told he couldn’t return to class until he recanted.

“It was about male students using female washrooms, gender dysphoria and male breastfeeding. Everyone was sharing their opinions on it, any student who wanted to was participating, including the teacher,” Alexander said.

“I said there were only two genders, and you were born either a male or a female, and that got me into trouble. And then I said that gender doesn’t trump biology.”

He also said that his comments came during a class discussion about "male students using female washrooms, gender dysphoria and male breastfeeding." All the students were sharing their opinions, as was the teacher. At this point, Josh said there are only two genders and "you were either born either a male or a female and that got me into trouble."

Alexander told National Post that he’s never dead named another student, meaning using their original name before transitioning. As for trans students disapproving of Alexander’s religious beliefs, maybe they want to reflect on the fact that they are attending a Catholic school, or at least one that calls itself a Catholic school.

This incident shows why it might be time to finally say goodbye to Ontario’s publicly funded Catholic school system. There’s nothing Catholic about it, they adhere to the same secular gospel as all of our other public institutions, and it is beyond saving.

Josh's lawyer, James Kitchen, says that the school has deemed his statements as "bullying" and they are bringing the incident to an Ontario human rights tribunal for religious discrimination. After his suspension in November, Josh organized a protest to make it clear that he and other students disagreed with the idea of male students using the girls' bathroom because they call themselves transgender. When he showed up to the school to protest and attempt to attend classes again, he was arrested on site by two police officers and charged with trespassing.

The school administrators have not yet commented on the events that have transpired, but Josh and his lawyers will be fighting this in court. It's frightening to think that a Western country such as Canada, which is supposed to be one of the freest societies in the world, is targeting students because of beliefs that were once accepted by the entire country without question just a few years ago.
