3 suspects arrested in Cape Town in connection with shooting of Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes have been released

3 of the 4 suspects who were arrested in Cape Town in an ongoing investigation into the murder of Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane were released last night while one will appear in court today. (Read More Here).

At this point, the suspects have been brought in for questioning. The group was captured over the weekend in Belhar, Western Cape.

According to Netwerk24, one of the suspects is connected to a series of taxi homicides in the KZN.

The individuals were located in the Western Cape after committing a number of offences in KZN where they allegedly pretended to be Department of Social Development employees.

Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel André Traut, when contacted for comment, referred questions about the arrest to the KwaZulu-Natal police. “It is a KZN case, should we get any information, it will be sent to them. You should contact them for information,” he said. He would not confirm if the men were arrested in Cape Town.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda also would not confirm the arrest.

“We have not received any update on the AKA case,” he said. According to a source close to the investigation, the suspects will be brought to Durban where they are expected to be charged as they are still in police custody in Cape Town.

AKA was murdered in cold blood on 10 February in Durban when two gunmen opened fire on him and his team outside Wish on Florida restaurant. The incident also resulted in the death of his friend and celebrity author Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane who was also gunned down.

In a viral interview that was aired on Tuesday, 21 March, on the eTV show called My Guest Tonight with Annika Larsen, the murdered musician’s bodyguard Anwar “Dogg” Khan opened up about that fateful night; stating he would have prevented AKA from going to Wish on Florida had he been present

“90% of our work is the manner in which we move. It’s the planning, how you pre-plan, how you schedule your timing and placing of yourself and the person [you are protecting],” he told Larsen.
