CCTV FOOTAGE: Video Captures Mob Boss, Marco Raduano, Escaping From Prison With Bedsheet Rope

Video Captures Mob Boss Escaping From Prison With Bedsheet Rope, Marco Raduano Was Serving An 18-Year Sentence For Drug Trafficking.

Footage showed him shimmying down the makeshift rope, which stopped some metres short of the ground, before jumping on to grass and running out of sight.

Raduano, who is aged 39-40, was jailed for 19 years in August 2018 after being convicted of drug trafficking. Italian news agency ANSA reported that his escape was not noticed for two hours.

Marco Raduano, 40, escaped from the Badu’e Carros prison in Sardinia on Friday and the incident was caught on surveillance footage and shared widely on social media.

The tracksuit-wearing mafioso can be seen in the video clambering down two stories with the help of a makeshift rope made from knotted bedsheets as he jumps and lands on the grass below. A manhunt is underway for an Italian mafia boss who escaped from a supposedly high security prison by climbing down a perimeter wall using a rope made of bedsheets.

Marco Raduano, the leader of the Sacra Corona Unita mafia from Apulia, southern Italy, escaped Badu 'e Carros prison in Nuoro, Sardinia, earlier this month. The escape of Marco Raduano, 40, from the Badu ’e Carros prison in Sardinia went unnoticed for two hours because the operations room at the facility was reportedly unmanned at the time and no one was watching security footage of the prison break.

Cameras captured the tracksuit-clad reputed boss of the Sacra Corona Unita Mafia clan in southern Italy scaling down a stone wall using the rope of bedsheets before jumping to the grass below and darting off.

The mob boss was reportedly said to be a model prisoner who had used his job on an upper-floor library to study the schedules of guards who patrolled the facility, and timed his escape accordingly.

“The prisoner from Puglia escaped in a daring way from one of the safest penitentiaries in Italy. It seems he had everything ready and that the escape was well planned for some time,” Villa said, according to the Telegraph.

The crime lord presides over a notoriously violent criminal outfit that’s known for shattering its victims’ skulls with shotgun blasts to deprive their families of open-casket funerals, the Times reported. His personal arsenal of weapons was said to be guarded by a boa constrictor.

Raduano’s escape coincided with a fireworks display in his hometown of Vieste, prompting the local mayor to issue a statement denying that the celebration was tied to the prison break.
