Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) claims that Chevy Chase called him the ‘N-word’ on set

Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) claims that Chevy Chase called him the ‘N-word’ on set.

During Sunday night’s award show, Glover claimed that Chase directed the slur at him.

While presenting the award to Simms, he stated: “This award was named after Herb Sargent, a writer who worked on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and came up with ‘Weekend Update’ with Chevy Chase. Chevy Chase once called Herb one of the funniest writers working in television. And Chevy Chase once called me … you know, this is about Paul.”

Donald Glover savaged former “Community” co-star Chevy Chase during an appearance at the Writers Guild Awards in Midtown’s Edison Ballroom on Sunday.

The funnyman, 39, took to the stage to present an award to writer-producer Paul Simms, when he referenced his infamous showbiz beef with Chase, 79.

4 Americans were kidnapped in Mexico by the cartel. 2 of them were found dead and 2 were found alive. They were traveling from South Carolina for a medical procedure. Glover also told the crowd about how he met Simms on the set of the HBO comedy “Girls,” created by Lena Dunham.

“I was on the set of ‘Girls’ after filming a sex scene for like eight hours — which they cut down to two minutes,” Glover stated. “I’ve never seen the rest of the footage.”

“Afterwards, I asked Lena [Dunham], ‘Yo, what made you decide to work with Paul?’ And she goes, ‘Honestly, this n—– lets me do whatever I want.’ I remember thinking two things: One, Lena is using the N-word extremely liberally. Who does she think she is, Chevy Chase? And two, that’s the kind of producer I want.”

Chase quit the sitcom in 2012 after four seasons. He allegedly used the n-word on set that same year. He and Glover are pictured together at far right. While Glover stopped short of saying the racial slur, he has spoken about his issues with Chevy Chase in the past.

Chase starred in Community for the first four seasons (2009 to 2012) before quitting following a confrontation with the show’s creator, Dan Harmon, in 2012.

He reportedly once told Glover on set: “People think you’re funnier because you’re Black.” Glover, who played former football star Troy Barnes on the show, ultimately stayed on for the first five seasons before Community ended after a sixth installment.

As far as his other creative endeavors, Glover confirmed in January that Childish Gambino will return at some point as he’s been locked in the studio working on new music.
