Journalist confirms The Black Eyes Peas and Fergie are reportedly back together

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that The Black Eyes Peas and Fergie are reportedly back together.

Fergie has actually been MIA from the Black Eyed Peas since 2017, and member will.i.am hinted at a rift between the successful solo artist and the rest of the quartet in early 2018.

When talking to the Daily Star about the hip-hop group’s seventh studio album, which was released without Fergie in October 2018, the rapper gave curt answers to questions about the female vocalist’s departure.

He went on to accuse the interviewer of not having his facts straight. "We performed as a trio before, and if you had done your research properly, you would know how we would do it as a three," will.i.am bluntly stated.

Fergie previously described her role in the Black Eyed Peas as "the girl part to all their different male parts. The band is not the place for me to explode my creative, personal juices all over everything. That is their job."

The "Glamorous" hitmaker was replaced by The Voice of the Philippines Season 1 finalist Jessica Reynoso, who competed on the show as a member of apl.de.ap’s team. The judge and mentor formed the Black Eyed Peas alongside will.i.am in 1995.

According to a report on Billboard, after Fergie's departure from the Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Taboo will be leaning on J. Rey Soul as the female singer-songwriter in the upcoming albums of the band. The Black Eyes Peas' member Apl.de.ap had selected her to join his team on the Philippines edition of The Voice in 2013. J. Rey Soul was also a guest artist on The Black Eyed Peas 2018 project, "Masters of the Sun Vol. 1.

Apl.de.ap added, "But unfortunately our schedule is displaced by [her] wanting to be a great mom, and she wants to focus on that."

Moreover, the group shared that her departure was ultimately for the best as it allowed them to introduce singer J. Rey Soul to the world. "I feel we're giving birth to a new artist, J.Rey Soul. I really want to give her ultimate praise and respect. What the fellows said—Ferg, she's doing the mom thing—but we have an amazing artist we're developing," Taboo said.

J. Rey semi-officially joined the group in 2018 after winning the Philippines' version of The Voice.

As for Fergie, it's been over two years since the band confirmed her departure. In that time she released her solo album Double Dutchess, which Will.i.am helped produce, and launched her record label Dutchess Music.

While the Black Eyes Peas had been around since 1995, they skyrocketed to fame after Fergie joined the band in 2001. The musical band delivered super hit songs like Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling, and also performed at the Super Bowl. According to a report on the Daily Star, during a 2017 interview, Fergie's fellow bandmates revealed that she had taken a break from the band. However, fans were alarmed when the group's seventh studio album was released without Fergie in October 2018.
