Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Three young boys arrested for sexual assault and harassment towards Japanese woman, Megumiko India, on Holi festival. 

According to the Delhi Police, three people have been apprehended in relation to the molestation and abuse of the woman. One of the offenders is a juvenile and all three are from the Paharganj area of central Delhi. She didn’t file a complaint against anyone yet, they added.

The woman flew to Bangladesh yesterday. She claimed to be in good physical and mental health. She added, that she was unaware of the gravity of the matter, and would give a more detailed explanation tomorrow.


In the clip, the males are touching her and smearing colour on her face. One of them cracked an egg on her head while shouting ‘Holi Hai, Holi Hai.’ The woman is heard saying ‘bye bye’ and attempting to flee. She once smiled for the camera, but when a man tried to touch her, she slapped him and finally left from there.

Netizens flagged the video to the Delhi Police and the National Commission for Women for action.

The Japanese embassy was contacted by Delhi Police for assistance in determining her identity. The embassy claimed they were oblivious to any such incident.

The accused were located using local intelligence, according to officials, who also stated, they are continuously in touch with the Japanese embassy.

On Thursday, the woman shared a video of the incident on Twitter. However, she deleted it shortly afterward. Regarding this, she explained that she was “terrified” by the responses to the video, and thus decided to remove the tweet.

“On March 9th, I tweeted a video of the Indian festival Holi, but after that, the number of RTs and DMs increased more than I had imagined, and I was terrified, so I deleted the tweet.
I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by the video,” she tweeted.

A video has prompted outrage in India, where a Japanese woman was groped and shoved by a group of boys and men in New Delhi during the Holi festival.

The Straits Times reports that police have arrested two men and a minor. In the video, a boy also smashed an egg on the woman’s head. She then slapped one of the men and ran into an alley.

According to the ST report, police say all three arrested had admitted to assaulting the 22-year-old woman. The victim was said to have flown to Bangladesh without filing a complaint.

Ms Swati Maliwal, chair of the Delhi Commission for Women, called the assault “completely shameful behaviour”.

The National Commission for Women demanded that police conduct a “fair and time-bound investigation” into the incident, calling for “a detailed report”.

“The women protesting (against) the molestation and harassment during Holi are not defaming the religion or festival. The men doing it are. Go after them,” wrote Twitter user Priyashmita Guha. However, Delhi police say that any action against them “would be decided on the merits and in accordance with the complaint by the girl, if any”.
