A six-year-old boy in Langkawi sneaked out of his home and drove his parents’ car for about 2.5km, before crashing into a lamp post along Jalan Bukit Tangga.

In a viral video of the incident, the boy could be heard saying that he wanted to go to a shop to buy a toy car.

Langkawi police chief Shariman Ashari says the boy was driving a Toyota Vios with his three-year-old brother.

Both children did not suffer any injuries due to the crash. Shariman notes that the police were notified of the incident at 11.15 pm last night.

He adds that the boys had sneaked out from their house at Kampung Padang Mengkuang while their mother was in the bathroom and their father was asleep.

He says the case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 as well as Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
