After winning four posthumous Metro FM Awards, AKA’s parents Lynn and Tony Forbes took his awards to his final resting place: his grave.

The late rapper’s parents joined his daughter Kairo Forbes in accepting the awards at the glamorous music event over the weekend.

AKA was shot and killed by an unknown gunman in Durban in February. As yet, no arrests have been made.

The family of multiple award-winning rapper AKA who passed away untimely at the age of 35, have announced the burial arrangements for the rapper amidst a police investigation into his death.

Father of the late rapper, Tony Forbes, in a press conference on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, addressed the public, thanking them for their support while highlighting the burial plans for the late rapper. He said:

“We want to acknowledge the outpouring of love that we have received since Kiernan’s passing. That love has been extended to our families, our colleagues and friends. It has really helped in terms of giving us comfort these past few days,” 

Tony Forbes also revealed that a memorial service would be held for the rapper who had been an inspiration to many on Friday, February 17, 2023.

In a moment that had the Megacy in tears of joy and sadness, the late rapper scooped four Metro FM Awards in the following categories;

Artist of the Year
Best Collaboration Song (Lemons to Lemonade ft Nasty C)
Best Hip Hop Artist
and Best Male Artist

AKA’s posthumous album Mass Country was released just two weeks after his gruesome murder. According to many friends and fans, the hitmaker “knew” it would be his last musical offering.
