Real Madrid will try to sign Kylian Mbappé THIS summer

Real Madrid will try to sign Kylian Mbappé THIS summer.

According to Marca, Real Madrid are confident that Mbappe will sign his contract at Bernabeu by the end of last week, bringing the long-running saga to a close.

The report claims that 'negotiations have intensified' since Los Blancos knocked PSG out of the Champions League last week, with Mbappe's two goals in the tie not enough to send his side through.

The 23-year-old will allegedly earn €25m (£20.9m) per season after tax, while he could receive a bonus of between €60m (£50m) and €80m (£67m) to join the club.

We all know how the Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga turned out the last time around. It had looked like the Frenchman was destined to join Los Blancos as a free agent with his PSG contract running out. So much so that he was even cheered by the Santiago Bernabeu crowd when the two teams met in the Champions League.

But then, in an unexpected turn of events, Mbappe would go on to extend his contract with PSG. It is safe to say that that left a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of fans.

Yet, here we are around a year later and the Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours are back in full flow. It looks like the contract that he signed with PSG was only for two years with the option for a third.

As reported by AS, Real Madrid are clear that they will not become embroiled in any negotiation with PSG. Mbappe will end up at the Santiago Bernabeu only when he is a free agent.

Thus, it looks like Real Madrid are open to the prospect of signing Mbappe only as a free agent. Of course, his current deal with PSG will run out in the summer of 2024, if he does not take up the option of extending it by another year.

Mbappe has again been in terrific form for his French club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 25 times and registering 17 assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.
