As the investigation into the Shakahola Massacre continues, new evidence has come to light, with over 140 bodies exhumed so far.

According to the police, phone records show that former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra, who is also the owner of Mediheal Group of Hospitals, was in frequent communication with the leader of the cult, Pastor Mackenzie.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says the government is only interested in weeding out rogue religious groups and will not in any way hurt or interfere with the operation of churches in the ongoing purge of cult sects in the country.

Gachagua who defended the church as a crucial pillar in the society insisted that the happenings at Shakahola forest in Kilifi County are a small issue that should not be taken as an activity that happens in all religious institutions.

"The things witnessed in Kilifi are not about the Church but about individuals. The Church of Christ has many enemies because the devil is always at work day and night. They would want to use that small issue to give the Church of Christ a bad name," said the DP.

Mediheal Group of Hospitals has a history of accusations of illegal organ transplantation activities in Kenya and abroad.

A family once alleged that they removed their relative’s kidney without consent and he died in 2019.

The Shakahola Massacre is one of the most horrific crimes in Kenya’s history, and the involvement of MP Swarup Mishra and Mediheal Hospital in organ trafficking adds another layer of horror and injustice.
