Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Fans believe Shekinah is the doughnut after singing performance on The Masked Singer SA.

"S3 is so excited to bring a great, big and globally successful talent show to South Africa in a local version," channel head Pat van Heerden said in the statement. "Our Saturday night slot, at 18:30, bring citizens talent shows each week from around the world, but now we stage our own South African talents. The natural home for a show like this is S3 which aims at a local citizen who is simultaneously a global citizen. The tagline for S3 is Open Up – to new worlds, new thinking, new ways of living!"

The Masked Singer South Africa will see 16 celebrities sing well-known songs in bejewelled full-body costumes and masks that hide their identities. As the celebrities perform, the star-studded panel of detectives, namely J Something, Somizi Mhlongo, Sithelo Shozi and Skhumba Hlophe, will try to guess their identities.

“It is a dazzling detective show which will have audiences on the edge of their seats,” Mdoda said.

The first episode certainly had viewers on the edge of their seats as the show trended at number one on Twitter, making a strong debut. Viewers shared on social media their thoughts on the show from the promotion of local music and the production standard.

The chemistry between the panel of detectives was also unmissable, Shozi makes her first screen debut with her gig on the show. With Mzansi audiences getting to know her for more than her pictures.

Singing competition guessing game, The Masked Singer South Africa, will premiere on S3 (formerly SABC3) in June, the channel said in a statement.

Launched at an exclusive event in Johannesburg last week, The Masked Singer South Africa will premiere on Saturday, 3 June, at 18:30.

The South African version of the “Masked Singer”, is brought to Mzansi audiences through Mdoda’s female-led production company and has been a project that has been in the works for a few years.

Mdoda was delighted at the show airing on screens after weeks of precision preparation into delivering a world-class programme.

“From start to finish, audiences will be captivated by the breathtakingly spectacular splendour of costumes and masks as well as by the mystery of this ultimate celebrity guessing game.
