Azimio leader Raila Odinga's spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, has allegedly been arrested

Azimio leader Raila Odinga's spokesperson Dennis Onyango has allegedly been arrested, ODM director of communications Philip Etale has said.

However, police say they raided the home but did not find the ODM leader.

According to Etale, Onyango's home was raided by men suspected to be the police on Wednesday and drove away with him.

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale now claims that Azimio leader Raila Odinga's bodyguard Maurice Ogeta has been abducted by people suspected to be police officers.

According to Etale, Ogeta was taken by the officers who were in plain clothes and claimed they are believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

He said Ogeta was abducted while he drove to work on Wednesday morning before they drove him to an unknown destination.
“Have been detained by the DCI JKIA after my arrival from Mombasa. Currently under arrest,” he wrote.

Citizen Digital has since reached out to the MP for a comment, but his phone could not go through.

The alleged incidents come in the wake of anti-government protests scheduled to happen on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

An official from the police confirmed that Ogeta was among those targeted for arrest and detention.

He had been trailed to his house in Langata, the official added.

The arrest comes even as some Azimio leaders are reported to have gone into hiding over fears of arrest.

The leaders went into hiding on Tuesday evening and up to Wednesday they were still missing from their usual residences.

This followed reports that a number of the leaders including Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino had been detained.

Etale further claimed Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was apprehended on Tuesday night moments after arriving in Nairobi from Mombasa where he and other Members of Parliament from Nairobi County are said to have attended a meeting with officials from Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA).

MP Owino had also taken to his Facebook page claiming that he had been arrested.

“Have been detained by the DCI JKIA after my arrival from Mombasa. Currently under arrest,” he wrote.

He becomes the second of Raila's aides to be arrested after the former Prime Minister's bodyguard Maurice Ogeta.

Ogeta was taken by plain cloth officers while he drove to work on Wednesday morning before they drove him to an unknown destination.

His whereabouts remain unknown.

An official had earlier confirmed to the Star that Ogeta was among those targeted for arrest and detention.
