VIDEO: Driver, Adil Iqbal, who killed pregnant Hollyoaks star, Frankie Jules-Hough, filmed himself racing at 123mph before fatal crash with his BMW

Driver, Adil Iqbal, who killed pregnant Hollyoaks star, Frankie Jules-Hough, filmed himself racing at 123mph before fatal crash..

A 'big man' boy racer in a BMW filmed himself hitting speeds of 123mph and weaving in and out of lanes on a motorway before tragically killing Frankie Hough and her unborn child.

Adil Iqbal, 22, filmed himself with his mobile phone in one hand and the steering wheel in the other, driving 'erratically' as he crossed lanes and narrowly missed a number of other cars at high speed on the M66.

But just moments later, his cocky stunt spiralled into tragedy when he undertook a motorbike in the fast lane and then 'lost control', hitting railings and ploughing into the car of former Hollyoaks star Frankie Hough - at a staggering 92mph.

As Frankie made a call to say she'd be late, she let out a 'blood curdling scream' as Iqbal's BMW spun round and smashed into her car, leaving her and the three young children all trapped inside the vehicle. They were all unconscious apart from her two-year-old son who was desperately crying out for his mother.

Frankie was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and the three children were also taken to hospital, two of whom suffered serious injuries and one with minor injuries. The mum tragically died in hospital a few days later as a result of her injuries. Detective Constable Richie Hughes said: "I truly hope that the sentencing of Adil Iqbal who is a dangerous and reckless individual - brings her family and loved ones some form of closure.

"Iqbal's actions that day were nothing short of appalling. He knowingly and willingly chose to drive his car at those speeds with little regard for other drivers on the motorway at the time."

Actors from Hollyoaks had paid tributes to Ms Jules-Hough, who played the character Jess Holt in the Channel 4 soap in 2000 and 2001. Her nine-year-old son, Thomas Spencer, and young nephew Tobias Welby were left in a coma suffering serious brain injuries and their long-term outcomes remain uncertain, the court heard.

Both spent weeks in intensive care after the crash.

Her two-year-old son suffered minor injuries. Relatives of Ms Jules-Hough watched dashcam footage and video from Iqbal's phone as it was presented to the court before he was sentenced.

Iqbal from Accrington, Lancashire had managed to free himself from his car before people tried to help the trapped family until emergency services arrived.

He admitted two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of causing death by dangerous driving of Ms Jules-Hough.
