APC State Youth Leaders snub Dayo Israel, declare support for a candidate backed by Seyi Tinubu to become the next Minister of Youth

APC State Youth Leaders snubbed Dayo Israel, declare support for a candidate backed by Seyi Tinubu to become the next Minister of Youth, in a letter written and signed by youth leaders from over 30 states to President Tinubu.

The youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared its support for Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for the position of Minister of Youth, snubbing its National Youth Leader, Dayo Isreal.

Dayo’s tweets came shortly after Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), defeated Bola Tinubu, his APC counterpart, in the presidential election held in the state.

Tinubu is a former Lagos governor. The state is historically his stronghold as well as that of the APC.

However, results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed APC got 572, 606 while LP polled 582, 354 votes to win the state.

In a letter dated 21st August, titled ‘Clarion call for a purposeful minister of youth that is fit for the job,’ the youth leaders of the party snubbed their national leader, and enlisted Seyi Tinubu for ‘painstakingly strengthening the youth wing of the party’.

Giving their reasons for their support, the youth leaders said that Seyi, during the elections, ‘travelled at odd hours to numerous states across federation canvasing support for the success of the Tinubu-led administration.’

The APC national youth leader, in the now-deleted post, also called on the political appointees to begin a door-to-door campaign for Sanwo-Olu ahead of the election.

They sumbitted their favourable candidate for the position days after Tinubu redeployed Abubakar Momoh from the Youth Ministry to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.

Momoh was redeployed following outcry by Nigerians who pointed out that he was not a youth.
