OPPENHEIMER made $950M in worldwide sales

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that OPPENHEIMER made $950M in worldwide sales.

Box office is enjoying its best phase in India since the Covid times. We’ve been blessed with films like Gadar 2, Jawan, Pathaan, and The Kerala Story that knocked it out of the park earlier this year. Tiger 3, which is enjoying a smooth run currently, is another feather added to the cap. Hollywood also has had a massive contribution with films like Avatar 2 and Oppenheimer. Let’s take a look at the winners at IMAX screens this year.

Christopher Nolan recently sat down with Collider and spoke about the Oppenheimer box office. He humbly reflected that "for a film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, it was extraordinary." He attributes the movie's success to "IMAX presentation in particular, using film and using film prints that went out there into the world," and he celebrated the new generation of filmgoers who have embraced the theatrical experience. Read Nolan's full quote below:

One of the things that we got a very visible response to was the theatrical presentation, the IMAX presentation in particular, using film and using film prints that went out there into the world. Those screens, in particular, I mean, we broke the all-time record of the Chinese with the print we had there. I think, as of last weekend, we became the third highest-grossing IMAX film in America after Star Wars and Avatar.

I mean, for a film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, it was extraordinary. But that, to me, was a response to the care and attention we were putting into the presentation of the film as well as the film. It's just thrilling to watch young people owning movies in their own way and saying what's important to them about getting out of the house, getting to a theater, and enjoying the film in a way. And it's really wonderful to see a new generation doing that.

The name Christopher Nolan is enough to drive the audience to the theatres. And when he’s working on a biographical thriller, the buzz is expected to be unprecedented. Starring Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, and Emily Blunt, amongst others, the film was a super hit affair at the Indian box office with collections of a whopping 129 crores, out of which 50 crores came from the IMAX format alone.

The hype around Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film was a never-seen-before phenomenon. Pathaan revived the Hindi box office after back-to-back flops. The action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand missed the second spot by a margin of only one crore, as it earned 12 crores from IMAX screens in India.
