Sharia Law: Bauchi state High court refused to throw out the blasphemy charge brought against RHODA JATUA after spending 18 months in jail for protesting Deborah murder

Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Bauchi state high court refused to throw out the blasphemy charge brought against RHODA JATUA after spending 18 months in jail for protesting Deborah murder.

Ms Jatau was arrested by the State Security Service in May 2020 after she shared a video that condemned the lynching of Deborah Samuel, a Christian college student accused of blasphemy and set ablaze in daylight by Islamic fanatics in Sokoto. She is facing charges of inciting public disturbance, “exciting contempt of religious creed,” and cyberstalking.

The gravity of the charges is further accentuated by the fact that the “contempt” charge serves as the civil equivalent of blasphemy under Islamic Sharia law, a legal paradigm often politically enforced outside general constitutional provisions.

Yesterday’s ruling against the no case submission meant that the court affirms the legal standing of the authorities to argue the charges brought against her even though it is substantiated with scant evidence. In what could mark a predetermined proceeding, the court admitted the interpretation of Ms Jatau sharing of a social media video as offensive to extant laws and her lawyers would now work to prove that her action was justified rather than the initial stance that her action did not constitute the offences alleged.

They said Sharia Law will not apply to Christians in the North. But a Bauchi state high court refused to throw out the blasphemy charge brought against #RhodaJatau (a Christian) by the Bauchi State Government.

The entire Muslim Ummah in Bauchi are persecuting a single Christian mother, & for what? Religion?

Deborah Samuel was killed in Sokoto, in the most brutal insane manner, by religious extremists hiding behind Islam. And when the barbarism was over, they posted it online while reveling in it. Nigeria represent the many ways that Christians can die.

Do you know the heartbreaking part? A Zurich based Christian organization are the ones at the forefront, leading the legal battle for Rhoda Jatau’s release. The Christian Community in Nigeria couldn’t be bordered?

The Body Of Christ in Nigeria must search their souls. Is Christianity just about miracles & the promise of wealth? Christianity in Nigeria must be more than that. It should be “leave no one behind.” Where are the Bishops, the clergy, the Daddy GOs?

Rhoda Jatua is a wife, a mother, she is a law abiding citizen. She has been in incarceration for a wholesome twelve months, for a crime she couldn’t have possibly committed.

Nigeria is a Secular State, is it not? So why the selective application of laws?

Nigeria is ranked one of the highest where Christians are persecuted. Christians in Northern Nigeria are becoming more & more endangered for their beliefs. Is Nigeria now an Islamic state? Why is the Christian Community in Nigeria silent on this?

#freeRhodaJatua for Heaven’s sake!
