Alfred Thomas Highmore, known as Freddie Highmore, was born on February 14, 1992, in Camden Town, London.

His early career saw him starring in films as a child actor, beginning with “Finding Neverland” in 2004, followed by notable roles in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005), “Arthur and the Invisibles” (2006), “August Rush” (2007), and “The Spiderwick Chronicles” (2008). Highmore’s performances garnered critical acclaim, earning him two consecutive Critics’ Choice Movie Awards for Best Young Performer.

Educated at Brookland Junior and Infant School, Highgate School, and later Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Highmore excelled academically, achieving top grades in his GCSE and A-Level exams. He graduated from Cambridge with a double first in Spanish and Arabic and also attended the London School of Economics for a summer course in finance.

Highmore’s career transitioned from child roles to more mature characters with his portrayal of Norman Bates in the A&E series “Bates Motel” (2013-2017). This role earned him three Critics’ Choice Television Award nominations and a People’s Choice Award in 2017. His performance in “Bates Motel” marked a significant phase in his career, where he also ventured into writing and directing episodes of the show.

In 2017, Highmore began starring as Dr. Shaun Murphy in the ABC medical drama “The Good Doctor,” a role for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. He also serves as an executive producer and director on the show, demonstrating his versatility in the industry.

Highmore founded his production company, Alfresco Pictures, in 2018, aiming to develop scripted series that spark conversations on overlooked issues and provide a platform for unheard voices.
