This is not a time to remain silent any longer. Let us unite and raise our voices against the violence in Manipur targeting the Zomi-Kuki tribes.

Recently, a distressing video surfaced on social media, showing Radical Meitei individuals parading Zomi-Kuki sisters naked in broad daylight. It is deeply disturbing to witness their helplessness while being surrounded by over 20 individuals who behaved in an inhumane manner, touching them inappropriately.

Such traumatic incidents are beyond comprehension. How can anyone call themselves human beings after committing such atrocities? If we put ourselves in their shoes and imagine our own sisters in that situation, the pain is unimaginable.

Violence-hit Manipur saw fresh outrage this week as a video of two Kuki-Zo tribal women being paraded naked and then gang-raped went viral. The incident – vehemently condemned by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum- purportedly took place in Kangpokpi district after B Phainom village was burnt down. The ITLF said the mob had beaten two men to death before turning against the two women.

The incident which was strongly condemned by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum, allegedly occurred in Kangpokpi district after the B Phainom village was burned down.

According to the ITLF, the mob murdered two men- one middle-aged and one teenager, before turning against the two women.

A press release by the ITLF said that the incident occurred on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, showing men constantly molesting the helpless women, who were crying and pleading with their captors.

“The horrifying ordeal suffered by these innocent women is amplified by the perpetrators’ decision to share the video, which shows the identity of the victims, on social media,” an ITLF press release said.

The disturbing video garnered thousands of views and drew widespread condemnation.

The video was doing the rounds on the eve of a planned protest march announced by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) on Thursday to highlight their plight.
