Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Football Phone In inventor, Tony Butler, confirmed dead as he died peacefully in his sleep.

Taking to social media, Daz Hale, broke the news about the death of Tony Butler. 

He wrote: “Very sad news today about the passing of Tony Butler. He was fantastic to work with and the inventor of the football phone in. A proper legend. This picture was taken just before we went to Germany for the World Cup in 2006. Great times, great memories and a great man. RIP.”

Taking to social media, Jenny Wilkes, confirmed that Tony Butler wasn’t sick before his passing, rather he died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 88.

She wrote: “So sad to share the news that radio legend Tony Butler has passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep on Friday afternoon at the age of 88. 

“I first worked with Tony in 1982 at BRMB, twiddling the knobs for his Saturday Sports Show and then later @bbcwm 

A true radio legend.”
