Sources close to the investigation confirm that Esparza is facing multiple charges, including:
– Manslaughter
– Child Endangerment
– Tampering with a Human Corpse
Jayla has not yet been booked, as she is currently being treated at the hospital following the incident. The baby, who was found inside a trash liner in a restroom maintenance cart, did not survive.
Authorities are also reportedly pursuing charges against her father, who they say was unaware of the pregnancy.
Police believe Jayla gave birth in the women’s restroom Monday night, where blood was later discovered. Surveillance footage and witness statements helped identify her after she returned to the scene.
This remains an active investigation, and official charges will be confirmed upon booking.
