Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Jackelyn Leeann Garcia granted $1 million bond after she helped to unalive Jacqueline Mimi Torres on 80 Clark Street.

The mother and aunt arrested in the death of 12 year old, Mimi, are on the docket to see a judge today.

New Britain, Conn.  Authorities have arrested the mother and aunt of a 12 year old girl whose remains were discovered near an abandoned home on Oct. 8.

Karla Garcia, the girl’s mother, has been charged with mrder, while her sister, Jackelyn Garcia, faces charges of cruelty to persons. Karla Garcia’s boyfriend, Jonatan Anita, was also arrested for mrder and tampering with evidence.

The victim, Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres, was found in a container in the backyard of an abandoned home on Clark Street. Authorities say her body was in an advanced state of decomposition and believe she died in the Fall of 2024 while living with her family in Farmington.

Police allege that Mimi suffered prolonged abuse and malnourishment during her life. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Victor Torres, Mimi’s father, and her stepmother, Frances Melendez, said they were informed of her death by police. Torres said he had not seen or spoken to his daughter since before her 12th birthday on Jan. 29. He noted that Mimi had been living with her mother, who had custody, and that he had been unable to reach her for months.

Karla Garcia is being held on a $5 million bond, and Jackelyn Garcia is being held on a $1 million bond.
