Popular Nollywood actress, Chiege Alisigwe C., has advised Nigerians to embrace farming due to food scarcity in the country presently. In Nigeria presently, food scarcity is seriously becoming worrisome; prices of food are high.

No beef in the market, prices of food items and provisions are extremely expensive. Scarcity of food started the moment Fulanis/Hausas clashed with other tribes due to illegal grazing of cows.

Taking to her Instagram page, Chiege, advised Nigerians nationwide to start farming. She also told those who have lands to lease it to people who would farm on it. She gave this piece of advice to Nigerians after she returned from the market and most shops were closed due to food scarcity.

She wrote: “Chiege’s World!!!

Went to the market and noticed that many shops were locked up. I decided to ask someone and to my greatest surprise, the man i asked told me that there’s no goods to be sold, and that goods were withdrawn from the north.

Now it dawned on me that it is time for us to sit up from our various comfort zones and kick start farming in full. I asked myself, does it mean that we can’t produce food to eat or rear our own poultry, cattle etc?

I am speaking to each and everyone of us, this is time to embrace agriculture! Let us start farming and producing enough to eat and sell. This is one of the reasons i love abakaliki people. They don’t wait for anyone to produce their food for them and even have enough to sell. It is no longer a thing of i am not cut out For farm work. There are many ways to do it, by employing more hands to do it for you.

For those that doesn’t have land to plant, the one’s that have should begin to lease out their lands, instead of keeping and not using them. You lease out your land for number of years, you also make money doing so. Let us begin to be our brothers keeper for the betterment of all. If we all can embark on agriculture, we will not beg to feed, more over, have so much to sell and make money too.

This is for the easterners and south wests
