An eyewitness has partially revealed how Sunday Igboho’s old house in Soka, Ibadan, Oyo state, was burnt down. The Oyo State Police Command, revealed in a statement the brief story on how Sunday Igboho’s old was burnt down, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho has spoken to a popular news media, The Peoples Gazette via telephone call conversation. He said: “I can’t blame anyone right now for the attack not even Fulani people. We have to thank God that nobody was killed, it’s more important.”
According to Sunday Igboho, he moved out of the old house a year ago and moved into a new house, which is still around Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo state. Recall that Sunday Igboho spoke with some youths, as he sent ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen to leave Ibarapa area of Ibadan within 7 days.
After his warning, Seriki reported that his house and cars were burnt down. Seriki also revealed that he and his family had to escape through bush paths to Ogun State.
In a statement, Oyo State Police Command, revealed what it know about the burning of Sunday’s old house: “At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, report was received at Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at SOKA area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze.
“The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while amount of other properties is yet to be estimated. Immediately the DPO Sanyo got wind of the incident, he contacted Fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessement. The fire was eventually put out.
Investigation has commenced into the incident while the Police is on the trail of the hoodlums.”
According to an eyewitness, he revealed that NEPA (electricity company), interrupted the power supply in Soka, a few minutes before the burning down of Sunday Igboho’s old house took place. Recall during the Lekki Massacre in October 2020, the lights at the Toll Gate were switched off minutes before the shootings and killings took place.
“The house was set on fire some minutes after electricity was switched off around the whole area. Whoever is the NEPA official who took bribe from the government to switch off power supply by that time is in hot soup because he will be found and dealt with.”
